About Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative

Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative has received mixed reviews regarding its operations. Customers express frustration with the current guard shack procedures, particularly the lack of proper training for new employees. While some older staff members, like Joe, are praised for being helpful and friendly, the newer staff are often seen as clueless and poorly trained. Additionally, issues such as a malfunctioning CB radio and cold waiting conditions have been highlighted. On the loading side, there are complaints about the muddy, uneven ground for loading beet pulp pellets, as well as the absence of a scale, which complicates the loading process. Despite these challenges, loading times can be quick once the process begins, although there may be delays due to staff multitasking during the night. Overall, improvements in training and facility conditions could enhance the experience for customers.

Joe is always friendly and willing to help. These new kids running the shack are clueless and downright incompetent at times. Go in with chemicals and they have no idea the proper hours or who to get ahold of or where to send you. They clearly were not trained well enough. Also, the CB in the guard shack has been on the...read full review

Load beet pulp pellets here. Have to drive to the back 40 to load. Always thru a swampy mud mess. Load on uneven ground no scale. If you are even slightly over you have to go back thru the mud and guess how much to dump off. And then get back in the scale line. Would think they could improve the lot and maybe give a guy a scale to load on.

Loading beet pulp pellets (bulk) doesn't take long once they start, during the night the guy loading is also in charge of some other stuff so can be a little wait time till he's freed up enuf to load trucks.
