Last June, we began taking lessons with Chad prior to our wedding. I wasn't really sure what to expect..I was a previous competitive dancer in jazz, ballet, lyrical, etc., but had never really touched ballroom aside from a bit of swing dance in college. We did 6 lessons prior to our wedding and learned some of the basics of rumba and swing. After the wedding, we decided we wanted to continue and have been ever since. When you start out, you get a little bit of an intro to each of the dances and then narrow it down to your four favorites to move forward with. We chose rumba, tango, cha cha, and swing. Most do weekly lessons and then there are practice parties weekly to every other week where you can dance with other students in a social setting. After some time passes, you get to know a lot of the other students. The community is incredibly supportive and welcoming. Not long after beginning our post-wedding curriculum, we even performed a choreographed piece for the studio's showcase, which was incredibly fun. If you are looking into lessons, tell them Dane and Shayna sent you! You get a discount for your first two lessons and we get a free lesson.
We did a set of 5 lessons with them to prepare us for our wedding. We learned a slow dance and some swing. Having some legit dance moves for our first dance was awesome. Thanks for your patience with us and helping us get down the moves! Would recommend, but if you're looking for a specifically choreographed to you dance, this may not be the place for that.
Got a groupon for 2 lessons. Had our first lesson in couples ballroom and are very impressed. It was very fun and the method is good for even the most beginning dancers (aka...Us!). Beth is a great teacher with lots of great tricks to help us remember what we are supposed to do and lots of patience too. Nice dance spaces, options for practice before and after the lessons and friendly staff make it a good way to learn! Excited to try another lesson. Wish they had studios in the north side of the cities.
