“Ever since my old dojang closed down I have been training at NATA, and it has been an amazing experience. When I started practicing here I immediately welcomed and have over the almost two years improved beyond what I believe I would have gotten at my old school.NATA is a great place for people of all ages to attend. I participate in the adults/advanced class and feel challanged everyday to become better in many parts of my training. Classes offer a well rounded look into taekwondo for teens and adults. The kids class, which I assist for (a great opportunity for higher ranks to teach younger members) is great for younger kids to get out energy and learn a practice with a focus on disapline and focus. I've seen many young kids go from unsure to excited to participate everyday.I highly recommend NATA to anyone interested in martial arts or simply getting some more exercise in their lives.-Rachel Douglas“

“Shorinji Kempo is an awesome martial art. What makes training in this art so great; it is the people that you will train with. The head Instructor Sensei Gary has been my Instructor for almost 12 years. There are no egos just like minded folks that want to get in shape, learn a self-defense and help each other grow.Steve Stanley“

“My son and I have been training here since spring, and we absolutely love it. Excellent instructors who foster a positive attitude, a pursuit of mastery, and a sense of responsibility to give back to the community. The discipline and sense of pride in one’s accomplishments is great for my son. Also, I’m in the best shape I’ve been in in years, which feels incredible. It’s a great program for kids and adults alike.“

“Updated 2024- Great place to train! Especially impressed with the atmosphere for women; lots of ladies training jiu jitsu and very positive attitudes. Nice space in the locker rooms too. Students aren’t overly aggressive and upper belts are generally helpful. Professor is extremely knowledgeable and follows a regular curriculum which makes it easy to learn new techniques and refine old ones into an actual system. Facility is clean and staff is excellent. Amazing family atmosphere; my partner and I have a young child and have to tag team watching them while we train and everyone is super helpful and welcoming. A few things to be aware of: it is pricey- you don’t get that many classes for such a high price tag (although I also understand Ann Arbor rent...), they typically don’t allow people to come to open mat from other gyms in the immediate area (mainly for liability reasons), and you can only wear IBJFF approved gi colors (blue, black, white). Still, would definitely recommend it!“

“Our six year old daughter has been taking lessons here for about 6 months and it has been amazing both in terms of physical activity and discipline/self-confidence. The classes really are tailored for kids (it's not just watered-down adult karate). We recently had her birthday party at the dojo and it was fantastic! Master P and Ms. Megan went way over and beyond our expectations - every kid even got to break their own board!! I can not recommend them enough.“
