It's rare to meet someone you'd consider a master at their craft, but I've got to say, Dominique at the Alpine Ave Lady Jane's certainly fits the bill.
It feels like every cut she makes on my hair is intentional and with purpose, like she's sculpting. I have finer hair, and she handles it better than anyone I've ever had before. I'm a repeat client of hers, and for good reason: she's the best men's hair stylist I've ever had.
Dominique was great. Exceeded my expectations. There has been times when I've judged a book by its cover, and admittedly and embarrassingly, I did on this occasion. Dominique didn't look like she had a ton of experience which was incorrect assumption. Learning she was the manager, she didn't look as professional as one would expect. Unassuming, very casual attire, minimal makeup, hair pulled back in a pony tail. I work in a creative field, so I get, "self-expression", your terms, live life...we're human so we are going to judge, which was another bad judgement on my part. The pages were definitely different from the cover. I arrived, was greeted nicely, she was engaging, great conversations, so pleasant and warm. Dominique even shared a story about lending her winter coat to a colleague who didn't have one for a concert she was attending. Authentic, humble and a servant leaders, no doubt. And of course, the haircut was exactly how I like it. Tight on the side, slightly longer on top and the fade was perfect. Awesome experience all around. I had not been to the Alpine location in over a year. Bad reviews and I did have some bad experiences resulting in cuts not meeting expectations. This past Thursday (Dec 19), I was in a hurry and couldn't get an appointment at the LJ's on Beltline & 28th Street, where I normally go. Even the phone call I had to secure an appointment was pleasant. I will definitely go back.
