I learned a lot from the Level 1 classes. There is good focus on proper alignment in the poses. I found the classes to be more mechanical and less spiritual, but I did feel great after each one. I don't think you could go wrong by signing up for one (eight week) session. I understand now why Iyengar is sometimes called "furniture yoga," going back and forth for props can get old, but overall the classes are very good.

The Yoga Practice Center is an excellent traditional Iyengar studio. Lynlee Sky has years of experience, and I have learned more in her classes than in any others I've taken. Class pace is thoughtful and instructional; expect to use props for many poses. The principles I've learned here are applicable to every other form of yoga out there--I feel I know more about a safe and effective yoga practice than some of the teachers around town! I highly recommend this studio--but don't overrun it, people, it's nice and small.
