Went to Gerald's for the first time yesterday. I pass by it all the time and finally decided to call for an appointment. I've been trimming my hair myself for 2 years, so it was long overdue for some TLC. Cheyenne did a FANTASTIC job of evening it all out and getting rid of the split ends but still kept the length. She really listened to what I wanted for my hair. I absolutely love this cut. Will be a lifelong customer for sure.
My mom got me a gift certificate for a facial at Geralds's and it was absolutely HEAVENLY. I've never had a facial before so I didn't really know what to expect. Amy was the aesthetician, and she brought me to a beautiful room with a comfy table/bed, nice low lighting, and the sound of waves. She was so friendly, gentle, and did an amazing job. I don't get pampered too often, so it was such a treat to be able to just lay back and enjoy the facial. Everything she used smelled so nice and was very gentle on my sensitive skin. The hot towels, steam, clay mask, exfoliant, oils, and all the other great products just felt so nice. She took her time and made a couple suggestions after the facial was over. I can't wait to go back. I highly recommend getting a facial from Amy. :)
I am headed for the first time to Gerald's. I have known a number of ladies who have boasted of the salon over the 25 years I've lived in Livonia and Plymouth. I will respond regarding my haircut once I see the result. However, regarding the gentleman who believes that bringing cash for a tip is bordering on illegal, and is that much an inconvenience, I wish to say the following: Small salons like Gerald's, and the numerous other ones around town, are not Starbucks. They are usually owned by a single owner, perhaps a partnership of two. Starbucks is a worldwide company. If my haircut turns out as I wish, I will pay by check, credit card, or cash, whatever the salon accepts. It is not a client's job to monitor or audit a hairdressers' tax return to ascertain whether they take cash only to evade tax. That is a gross assumption that they are dishonest. Perhaps to those who never worry about money, the thought may not occur, but sometimes, a little cash in the pocket at days' end turns into dinner on the table or gas in the car, rather than waiting until the daily credit card charges are tallied and cleared for their distribution the next day, or maybe even end of week. It's probably best to find a boutique salon with cafe' mocha latte' and Chase ATM machines if the time it takes to run to your own ATM for cash is that difficult.
