“I moved to Big Rapids in 2019. When I bought the house, even though the house is only 20 years old, there were some plubming issues to do with the kitchen sink-- poor water pressure, small leak in the drain, not very hot water, leaky faucet.Someone had told me about Ask Big Rapids, the website, so I went on there and asked who I should call. EVERYONE said, "KEN LUCE!" They were right. He fixed me right up-- took care of all the issues, including repairing and cleaning out the water heater under the kitchen sink (it has its own) so that I wouldn't need to buy a new one, saving me hundreds of dollars, repairing the faucet (the cause of the water pressure issue as well as leaking) since it was a nice one so that I wouldn't need to replace it, fixing the drain. And he did it all for under $200!!!Since then, I've used him a number of times:He repaired my main water heater (which Stratz had told me I needed to replace for $1,700) for $65. That was last year and it's still working great. He installed an inline water filtration system to filter sediment from well before getting to the water softener (sediement being the culperate for most of what was wrong with the kitchen sink when I bought the house), which he did for around $50.He fixed the shower faucet in one of my bathrooms that started just randomly changing temperatures, so you'd be in the shower and it get burning hot, but if you turned it, it would go ice cold and then not get hot again. Since replacing the faucet would require A LOT of work, cutting into drywall, etc., but since it's a Moen, he found a replacement cartridge, which he said pretty much made the faucet brand new again, and he only charged me $119 for that, but considering he cartridge alone cost $69, I didn't think that was bad. He's fixed my outdoor spigots that quit turning off all the way. He's repaired a running toilet. He's installed a shut-off valve for my water heater. He's installed an indoor shut-off valve for my outdoor spigots. I don't remember how much those cost, but what he charges is always very economical.Ken's super-congenial, the nicest guy you'd ever meet. He is very conscientious of keeping prices low while making sure what he does is quality and will last.I sometimes think you might have to twist his arm a bit to actually replace something old with something new because he's very much into not wasting and repairing what you have for a lower price, like with my both my water heaters, like with two of my faucets, like with my outdoor spigots. And he's right. When I've gone to see how much those things would cost to replace, what he did cost less then just the replacement, like faucets and fixtures are just astronomically priced for new, and what you often get is lower quality than what was even made 20 years ago.Anyway, I swear by Ken Luce. YOU CANNOT GO WRONG!!!! You can trust him. He's reliable. He does a great job. He's highly experience. He shows up quickly, like none of this saying it'll be weeks before you can be fit in unless you pay some emergency fee like what some other plumbers do. Ken shows up the same day or the next day or the next business day.I hope Ken never, ever, ever, ever retires. If you have ANY plumbing need, call Ken Luce.He repaired a running toilet by changing very parts of its guts.Services: Plumbing pipe repair“
