Had a wonderful experience with a gender affirming haircut here. Discussed different possibilities to cut my hair, what I wanna do with it in the future, products and hair care, and even hair styling.
Loved the service and community there
I am so happy with my experience. As someone who chooses to wear a face mask most places because I'm immunocompromised, getting my hair cut can be a point of anxiety because some places aren't okay with me asking them to mask or willing to work around me wanting to mask for my health. The fact that they have a built in option for appts makes it one less thing I have to socially navigate and makes me able to relax and enjoy my experience.
Also, the stylist I got really took the time to get what I wanted and how my hair type factored into the options or approaches. Will definitely be coming back and recommending everyone I know.
I've been getting my hair done by Jamie since I relocated to Lansing last year, and she is amazing! Every cut and color has been amazing; she's so fun to be around, and she's really great at processing my unclear rambling about what I maybe want my hair to look like and translating it into an amazing final product. As a queer and nonbinary person, The Hive has a safe, welcoming, and warm atmosphere every time I come through. Couldn't recommend highly enough!!
