This was HANDS DOWN the best haircut and beard trim i have EVER had. KAYCIE was wonderful. She gave me the full service even though i was walking in between appointments. Im not a local redident, but if i could fly back to Grand Rapids for haircuts, she'd be my barber!Services: Beard trim

I don't know how I haven't reviewed this place yet, but today was my last haircut from Sarah at Head of the Pride, and I wanted to make sure I put in a good word. I have been getting my haircut with Sarah for the last 5-6 years, and have never been disappointed in her work. I would have continued patronizing Head of the Pride indefinitely if it were not for the fact that I'm moving thousands of miles away. I came upon head of the pride when I decided that I wanted to grow a beard. Not just a beard, but a beard people would be jealous of. My several attempts to grow one in college resulted in tragedy. I could grow facial hair with ease, but I knew nothing of the grooming and styling required to maintain an attractive beard. This time around was going to be different. I looked through all of the barbers and salons in town to see if any of them could provide what I needed. Barbers had plenty of experience with beards, but generally couldn't do justice to the longer haircuts I prefer. Salons could almost get the hair down, but most couldn't nail the look, and next-to-none had experience with beards. It was then that I came across Head of the Pride's portfolio (I forget which social media platform it was.) They had plenty of pictures showing all sorts of styles and cuts on men and women. They even had plenty of stunning beards on display. I was sold, and booked my appointment. Sarah provided me with the cut and styling advice to achieve the beard I had been striving for, and my hair had never looked better. She has an innate ability to look at a man, and know exactly how to make him look good, not unlike a sculptor staring down their marble. The result: I would receive complements from complete strangers almost any time I was in public. Even my company's CEO would refer to me as "the best beard in the company." Was is a lot of work to blow dry and style everyday? Absolutely, it took dedication, but it was worth it to me at the time. I have gone through numerous styles since then, and I have always had full confidence that I would come out of those doors looking my best. My advice to anyone still reading this is to book your next haircut at Head of the Pride, go in with a rough idea of the look you are going for, and let Sarah flesh out the finer details. When in doubt, I've always responded to her questions with, "what do you think would look better?" I have never once been disappointed with her decisions.
