I came into the office with my newborn who severely struggled to latch, resulting in weight fluctuation. As any mother would be I was worried as to what was going on and why my very new baby was having such difficulties eating. What I did know is my son had both a minor lip tie, and tongue tie which after googling repeatedly thought that was the cause of his extremely shallow latch, causing poor milk transfer. What I didn’t know is how rough the birthing process can be on babies, resulting in jaw tension, shoulder tension, etc. We’ve been to a total of I think three appointments as of yet, and my little one has already improved significantly in both weight, and breastfeeding. He no longer has a shallow latch, and can completely transfer milk in an acceptable amount of time since having appropriate adjustments he needed, he has since “graduated” from weighted feeds with the LC, and does not need a tie revision. As a new mom the last thing you want to hear is that your newborn will probably need surgery. And as someone who lives to seek a natural approach to health I am beyond grateful for our regular adjustments. My babe no longer needs surgery for his tongue tie and is happier than ever.
