When my husband needed "manual therapy" as in massage, myofascial release, etc. in addition to the usual physical therapy stabilization exercises, he was sent to PM&R. I went along on a few of his sessions, and actually it was helpful for me to learn directly from the therapist how to help my husband by running my hand along his ribs to relax the intercostal muscles. So now it's my turn. I have an injury, and started doing my own PT routine at home. (I can get away with that because I've done so much PT in my life.)
