The Michigan Headache & Neurological Institute has been providing care for individuals with headaches since 1985. One long-term patient recalls the institute as a warm and compassionate place, offering moderate relief for their severe headaches. However, they have noticed a change in the institute's approach, feeling that disagreements are not handled helpfully, potentially leading to a dismissive attitude. A different patient's husband attended the inpatient program for 10 days after years of severe pain and numerous medical tests. Although the facility is not the most modern and treatment is costly, the knowledge and outcomes provided by Dr. Saper and his team were worth the investment. The patient felt significantly better after two months of treatment and encourages others who are willing to participate actively and financially to seek help from this medical team. A third patient has been seeing physicians and staff at the institute for three years, appreciating their ability to treat complex head pain and migraines. Despite the patient's complicated situation, the institute's team continues to advocate for them and deliver excellent care. The patient has made substantial progress with the institute's support.
I have been a patient at MHNI for many years. My headaches have improved so much. When I think back on the pain I had when I first went in, my headaches are much better now! They will get to the bottom of the pain and then find a way to eliminate it or reduce your pain until it is tolerable!
I went to Dr. Saper at MHNI in Ann Arbor, MI from 2023-2024, as I was seeking a fourth opinion for chronic, severe, uncontrolled headpain, eye pain, dizziness, light and noise sensitivity, nausea, and constant blurred vision. I was in excruciating pain daily. Dr. Saper, at my very first office visit with him, diagnosed me with csf leak and migraine based upon the tests he and his exceptional team performed. I’ve been a patient at MHNI for many years and I’ve always appreciated the care I’ve received. Dr.Kariyanna and the staff are kind, respectful. Additionally, they were recently accommodating with insurance changes that required additional prior auths and approvals. They’ve been attentive in finding treatments that help manage my migraines, and I’m grateful for their ongoing support and expertise.
