They repaired our roof and siding at work and did a fabulous job. Professional, timely, and curtious.
My home’s ridge cap shingles prematurely failed and the family room chimney was leaking water into the garage. What drew me to Smith Builders was their website with several awards, the fact that they offer discounts/rebates to Veterans, the fact that they are a long-established family business, the fact that they are accredited with the Better Business Bureau and Google’s 4.9/5.0 review. Luke (Project Manager) provided an estimate that was (shockingly) reasonable, close to my guesstimate, and half an unrealistic estimate from another roofing company. Weather caused the schedule to shift a few times, but Luke always kept me promptly advised. Zach and his crew did an efficient and professional job removing and replacing over 100 feet of ridge cap in a mere two hours. Zach pointed out several problem areas with the original ridge cap and promptly addressed them, along with a complete inspection of the rest of the roof when they were done. Luke is also a licensed mason and did a great job on replacing the chimney cap, re-pointing several areas of the brick and sealing the complete chimney. Like the roofing crew, Luke left my home cleaner than when he arrived, actually hosing off the roof in the area of the chimney. Normally I would check other’s work when they leave and even redo some of it if it wasn’t up to my picky standards. Not so with Luke and Zach – I quickly learned to trust them and knew that job was done correctly. Luke and Zach were very open to questions that I had, keeping me within the loop as they were working. I appreciate that, as I am at that point in my life where I have to let others fix what I would have fixed myself in the past. Final payment was to the penny of Luke’s estimate. A lot of contractors do not take on small jobs and use untrained “pick-up” crews, not so with Smith Builders. I am extremely happy with Luke, Zach and his crew for the work they completed. They work hard, and deserve a five-star rating.
Expert service. Expert work. Exceptionally fast. Smith Builders installed a new roof on my house last week. Working with them was effortless. I haven't bought a lot of roofs in my time, this is the first actually. The choice was do it myself, and undoubtedly live with a blue tarp on my roof for an indefinite period of time. Or, find someone to do it. I used the 'Free Estimate' form on their website, and was contacted by Zach. He was like the "guy in the van" on mission New Roof. He coordinated everything from the estimate to the options. All along the way I received detailed quotes, plans, and updates. They were able to start the job earlier than expected, which from what I saw can be attributed to efficient planning and work. The materials were dropped the day before, and they arrived the next day to do the work. A small detail that I appreciated, no one showed up before I had left for work. Not that I would have minded, but having it be a regular morning with no involvement on my part was nice. When I arrived home later that day they were wrapping up. They'd completed my 2-story, attached garage home in a day. From removing and disposing of the old shingles, installing the new singles, flashing, and re-installing heat-tape on a flat section, to cleaning up the yard debris. As I walked up a woman gave me a smile and moved the protective curtain surrounding my home so I could enter. An hour later it was like they were never there, except for the beautiful new roof.
