Pros: Big props for Katrina at the blood lab desk, who heard my sad tone of voice when she confirmed my name and offered to change my preferred name in the system! She was discreet and thoughtful and did everything I could wish a healthcare provider would do in a situation like that. Cons: When the phlebotomist Vanessa came out to get me in the waiting room, she called for me by my deadname- even though the paperwork Katrina gave me used my proper name. I corrected her and she acted really nervous all through the blood-drawing process. I wish I could count on meeting more Katrinas and fewer Vanessas when interacting with the healthcare system.
