I’ve been going to Wangui for years. She’s literally the best curly hair stylist / cutter / magic maker in the DC area. Formerly at Fiddleheads salon, she branched out on her own. The location is a bit hard to find: it’s at the Phenix Suites (home of a bunch of independent businesses) within the Ellsworth Place mall, next to the TJ Maxx. So if you look for the address and you walk into a mall, you’re at the right place!

Wangui (pronounced Wan-goy) is hands-down the best curly hair expert in the DMV area. I first met her at Fiddleheads, where the queue to get on her schedule was 3 months deep! During the pandemic, she paused doing hair, left Fiddleheads, and then -- eventually! -- opened up her own shop in Silver Spring. I found her and my curls are happy again. She's super hip, easy to talk to, and such a pro! It's a bit hard to find the salon. It's in Ellsworth Mall and adjacent to the TJMaxx in the Phenix Suites storefront for individual entrepreneurs. I had to call her the first time I came here because I didn't understand where to go

Today was my first time having my hair cut and styled by Wangui. She is a master stylist. She wanted to know my goals. She created a personalized cut for me and taught me how to care for it. She also told me exactly which products to use for my particular hair type, head shape, etc. Highly recommend her!Service: Hairstyling
