    I've been going to Dr. Chen for about four months now. After suffering from debilitating hives and swelling for several months and seeing doctor after doctor, trying tons of different medicines, acupuncture is the only thing that has helped, and it helped immediately. I don't know why it took me so long to consider trying acupuncture, but it was life changing. I'd encourage anyone to give it a try! Dr. Chen is wonderful--she knew right away some treatments that might work for me, made some recommendations about things to avoid (which have also helped) and frankly, was the first medical person to not seem baffled when they met me, which gave me hope.     Admittedly, I wasn't sure what to expect when I walked in. I didn't even know exactly what I was coming in for. I just felt... Off. No physical pain to speak of, but my brain was foggy, it was hard to concentrate. I was also feeling anxious and particularly irritable... just feeling run down. Dr. Chen was gracious enough to accommodate me at the last minute. After a few minutes and some intake questions, she laid me on the table and started the treatment. I have a phobia of needles but overall it was generally painless (although I did feel a few tiny pricks here and there when she was applying the needles to my feet.)     I went to see acupuncturist Dr. Jie Chen after my neurologist determined that I had complete blockage of the peroneal nerve in the knee of my left leg. This was debilitating in that I was unable to flex my left foot upward, so walking required a foot brace to hold my foot up; and a cane. The cause of the nerve blockage was termed ‘idiopathic,’ which means ‘no known cause.’ Beyond the diagnosis, my neurologist had little to offer. Recovery often takes a very long time, and the paralysis can be permanent. Some physical therapy would be useful to prevent atrophy of the paralyzed leg muscles.
