I recently saw a rheum there and it was a nightmare for me. It was my first visit with him and well documented that I was there for a painful muscular issue that had been going on for months. I had lab results for him from 2 docs, my internist and also an excellent doc in another state who is treating a relative for long covid. She did very extensive labs. Everything was highlighted for him and orderly because as we all know, docs' time is at a premium. He blasted into the room, barely shook my hand, no smile, (my stomach plummeted), barely looked at me, "You're here to discuss your osteoporosis today!" "No!" jumped out of my mouth. I had been waiting weeks for this appt and needed help with the pain from this issue I had. "You didn't see my notes? I'm in a lot of pain and need help with that." Oh, he was not happy. Over the next 20 min or so, he asked questions rapid-fire, I had organized notes I just stuck back in my pocket because he wouldn't listen. I showed him the lab results and when he got to the ones from the long covid doc, he shoved them at me. "We don't discuss IL or cytokines. This is meaningless to us." He brought in an US machine to check what I thought were Baker's cysts behind my knees and squirted that messy gel all over the backs of my knees. In two seconds of imaging, he said, "Yeah, Baker's cysts. OK, so we're going to drain them today, give you a shot of steroids in both knees and both shoulders." Gel was running down my legs, so I got up to get a kleenex. He did throw one at the table I was on. I had told him I couldn't take steroids at the beginning of the discussion. Plus, that, to me, was just too much for one appt for someone who can't take steroids or anyone really. I turned it all down. This guy was not coming near me with a needle. By this time, I was mentally in my car and driving home. So I decided to ask one more question, not caring if he answered or not. I asked him to look into the corners of my eyes which are filled with white dots. They appeared when the pain started. He was flustered. Didn't have a standard doc's flashlight, so used his phone! I said, "You'll need some magnification to see it, do you have a mag glass? I knew he wouldn't but I asked anyway. "No!" he said, of course. I can't see anything AND IF i DID, I WOULDN'T TREAT IT BECAUSE IT'S NOT MY AREA OF EXPERTISE." Well that's exactly what I hoped he'd say because it totally sealed the deal for me, as if I needed more. And there is more, but this is too long already. Then out of the blue, he said, "You need to go to PT." I said, "OK?" as with the pain I was in, PT sounded like torture. "Can you please suggest someone that can work with this painful condition and is also trained in working with osteoporosis?" He said, "No, I won't refer you. We don't do that." At this point, I almost laughed. I walked out and never returned. He was horrible and makes me want to never see any doc again. Esp a rheum.
This review is for their cancellation policy. My 89 year old mom would be late due to an emergency with her ride and would be about 45 minutes late. They would not accommodate and said in order to reschedule have to pay a 25$ fee. She's never been late or missed an appointment but yet wouldn't waive it being a first time "offense". What a gross way to treat seniors who need the treatment. I understand it's a "policy" but there are exceptions to things in life.
The office workers were very nice however, do not see Dr.Dilorio. I came in for a diagnosis of something that's been ruining my life for years where something goes out of place in my throat and i cannot move or speak and it is a 10/10 pain. She suggested me to go to an allergist. i tried to tell her i can feel it move and i can hear it click in and out of place, AND you can see it when it's out of place. she wouldn't listen to me about anything. she wouldn't look at any of the papers i have brought with proof i gathered as i researched what was wrong with me for for 6 years. she would not listen to a single thing i would say. This was the only disease i could find that sounds exactly like my disability and she wouldn't listen to a thing i said. The BEST part is even though my issue only occurs by moving wrong or doing certain movements and actions, she said i need to go to an allergist. as if i am allergic to moving my body. she was only condescending the whole time like im an idiot, weather what i think i have is wrong or right the treatment and the lack of listening to me is the most insane thing i have experienced. if you listened you wouldn't send me to an allergist.
