I needed some guidance with this years taxes because of a state form involving a pension from a previous employer that I was required to start collecting. I learned that I should have been filling out the SSI worksheet because taxable SSI on federal form is usally less than total SSI. This and one other thing saved me more than enough to pay the fee and have money left over. I will be filing amended returns for 2016 and 2017 (waited too late to file amended for 2015). I definitely recommend going to a professional like Jackson Hewitt whenever there is a major financial change. It is worth it and, at the very least, can be regarded as a refresher course even if you like/prefer to do your own taxes. Shawan was very relaxed, warm and friendly in addition to being professional. It was a great stress relief for me. I recommend them very highly, especially Shawan.
