I just went through an inspection with someone other than John Vaughn (it wasn't my choice). This other inspector was recommended by my real estate agent. My agent, who I like and trust, said this other inspector is someone he really likes as an inspector. Well, the other inspector, who I think has decades of experience and who primarily works for a big-name, big-volume local home inspection company, but was in freelancing in this instance, really didn't impress me. But the other inspector did reinforce my view that John Vaughn is a great inspector who is worth every penny and then some. This other inspector was significantly cheaper and in the end left me feeling ripped off. In other words, if you need a home inspector, hire John Vaughn. Pay him whatever he asks. It's worth it.

John Vaughn is not only the world's best home inspector, he's also the nicest human being ever. Many years ago he did a home inspection for us in D.C. and he was amazing to work with. When my wife and I bought a home in Charlottesville, we called John right away. Spending the day with him during the inspection was like taking a master class in home ownership - a masterclass about owning *this* particular house. If a house were a person, John's home inspections would be slightly more invasive than a colonoscopy (minus the nasty bowel prep and twilight sedation hangover). John is THOROUGH without being melodramatic about issues found: he calmly notes areas of concern without going all chicken-little-the-sky-is-falling. Whether you're a real estate agent, a home buyer, or a home seller, you can trust John Vaughn to deliver the world's best home inspection experience, culminating in a detailed report. I can't recommend him more highly: John Vaughn is simply the best.

The quality of John's work left completely amazed. John inspected a property that we have recently purchased and spending the whole afternoon looking and talking with him was an amazing learning experience, and helped us save some money. As already mentioned by others, he is extremely thorough and meticulous. There is no detail left behind. But even more impressive is how John uses his brain and experience to identify issues that an eye inspection would never be able to spot. That is the case with the HVAC of the property. While John could not have direct access to the ducts, he used information on the frequency of replacements of furnace and infrared pictures the air flows to identify issues with the AC ducts. Super heavily recommended
