I first saw his truck in the Lake Shore Plaza, and the name “The Stumpologist” made me smile. Curious, I quickly dialed the number.

I had previously received multiple quotes for yard work and had worked with other companies, but I never felt confident that they could deliver quality work at a fair price. That changed when I met Sam. He offered to come by the same day to assess the job, and from that point, I was impressed.

After a detailed walkthrough of the project—which included tree work, removal of 6-8 large stumps and 20+ small stumps, an acre of brush hogging and cleanup (large sticks and logs, rock removal, and taking down a broken chain-link fence and some telephone pole sections)- he provided me with a rough estimate, followed by a more detailed quote.

Sam’s pricing was highly competitive, and I believe the amount of work he completed couldn't have been done at a better rate. But the price didn’t reflect the quality—because the work was top-notch. Sam clearly takes great pride in what he does, cutting no corners and ensuring everything is done efficiently and safely.

What really stood out was the honest and friendly relationship that developed. Sam took the time to fully understand my vision and made sure we were aligned on the scope of work. He even returned for a second visit to review any changes and clarify questions, offering thoughtful suggestions along the way.

He was also mindful of my budget, never pressuring, and remained professional and considerate throughout the entire process. His crew was warm and engaging, even taking the time to interact with my 6-year-old son, who was excited to learn and help out.

Another highlight? Sam is a local retired shop teacher, having spent his career educating and delivering results. It's clear that his communication skills, ethics, and passion for his work are on a level that few achieve in any industry.

He proposed once complete, that I could “easily mow the entire space”. As he got started on an area that had been neglected for over 20 years; overgrown with thorns, trash, forest debris, and boulders; he said, “it will be so clean you can set up a picnic table and have lunch.” The results were even better than I imagined.

“I attempted to contact Mr. Seek several ways. It was rather difficult to track him down, but I eventually managed to schedule a time to meet and discuss my project. He was a tad late to our meeting, but that's understandable in this area. We started discussing things and he gave an estimate of $300 per tree. For some of the work this seemed reasonable, but there were some trees where he himself said it wouldn't require a lot of work. This lead me to wonder why I would pay $300 per tree when some required a fair amount of work while others were as simple as removing a single, small branch. Mr. Seek seemed very approachable and was knowledgeable about trees, but his pricing structure was not as well thought out as it should have been.“

“Hernando and his crew did an excellent job trimming all the branches that were covering the roof and chimney. They even removed all the dead and weak branches. The guys even helped to reinstall the chimney cap that came off. He also let us let us keep the mulch where they threw all the branches into the wood chipper. Total time was about 3 hours.“

“The Arundel Tree Service they gave me a fair price from the start. The tree to be taken down was a large maple and it was on my neighbor’s property.
