Everything went well. This has been a long time coming this review and Imani is a phenomenal tattoo artist. From the time I set my consultation and had to reschedule because I got sick to the last ink put on my skin, she's been a great communicator. If the space was too cold, she adjusted it. If I was too hot or needed a break, we adjusted and took a break. I felt completely at ease within her space and wasn't worried. We kept the tattoo realistic in terms of ideas so it didn't get it of hand because of my chaotic ideas and it was great because my tattoo came together beautifully. Being able to put together a vision in a collaborative setting feels great when you're looking for an artist to just listen to you and keep it real with you. She paid attention to my skin as she tattooed as well as didn't tattoo if I wasn't healed properly to avoid causing me pain. I have no raised areas where she tattooed me and she was gentle where I was previously scarred from a different artist. I highly recommend setting up time to talk to Imani about your tattoo wants. She will listen and be honest with you if what you want is possible. This is her craft and you matter so she takes her time and everyone deserves that.
I had a REALLY good experience with Imani and Eve! Imani is a seasoned tattoo artist and her specialty in tattoos with melanated skin was a deciding factor for me also. It was my first tattoo and the process to identify what you need is thorough and well thought out. Imani has really good energy and is easy to vibe with. I would definitely go back for another tattoo.
Imani means it when she says we will work together, collaborating on the tattoo I want. I have a vision for my tattoo and she draws it, asking many questions. I point out little things I’d like changed and she makes the changes. She knows she can’t see what’s in my head and so she accepts my inputs without taking offense. She offers her experience as to what will “read” and which ideas won’t work. Most of all, she asks questions to get to the heart of the meaning of what I want her to place in ink on my body.
