Dr. Rubin is an amazing ophthalmologist whom I've been seeing for eye exams for many years. However, in the last couple of years, there have been changes in the office and it starts to feel different. I went in again and there was this one lady at the front desk who was extremely rude and unprofessional. When I approached the front desk to request a printout of my contact lens prescription as suggested by Dr. Rubin, she insisted I had to pay for both a contact lens exam and a glasses exam, even though I hadn't requested a glasses exam, and my glasses prescription was still valid from four months ago. I paid, but requested explanations. Despite explaining my insurance coverage and situation, she remained adamant, refusing to listen and even declined to provide my prescription print out, citing distraction from billing inquiries. She then callously added, "You contact your insurance. If nothing else I can help you. You can be out of here." When I suggested Dr. Rubin come out to explain, the lady at the front desk callously retorted, "Dr. Rubin doesn't own the business. It is what it is; you have to pay for two exams." This further added to my disappointment and frustration, as it seemed to dismiss my concerns entirely. Feeling frustrated and disappointed, I requested Dr. Rubin's presence myself, and he and another front desk staff member clarified the billing procedure and explained changes in my insurance policy. Despite this, I still questioned the necessity of double exams, especially given the recent glasses exam. While Dr. Rubin is excellent, the behavior of one team member left me feeling disrespected and dismissed, tarnishing the overall experience.

I had a truly harrowing experience with Montgomery Eye Center, and only wish I had listened to all the many other bad reviews. The saga began when I visited Montgomery Eye Center on April 26, 2022, for a visit with Dr. Adam Rubin. The visit went well, I checked out, gave them my insurance card, paid my co-pay, and went on my way. Little did I know that this would kickstart an 18-month ordeal, orchestrated by Stephanie, the office manager. I was forced to pay for the entire visit out of pocket and navigate the labyrinthine world of insurance claims, all because Stephanie insisted repeatedly, over email and phone, that United Health Insurance "couldn't find me in the system." This was despite the fact that I had a valid insurance card and kept providing ample evidence of my comprehensive insurance coverage. The countless hours wasted in fruitless back-and-forths, involving both myself and my mother, through various channels of communication, were nothing short of infuriating.Engaging with Stephanie each step of the way over the past 18 months was simply horrifying. To echo every other review, she has terrible customer service skills and should simply not engage with people. Emails and requests in their online portal would go unanswered for weeks, and at one point my mother had to take time out of her busy life to physically go to the office to meet with Dr. Rubin to get the necessary insurance forms. It was as if basic professionalism and courtesy were alien concepts to the team at Montgomery Village Eye Center. The climax of this fiasco came when United Healthcare denied my request for reimbursement, revealing that they had ALREADY PAID Montgomery Eye Center in full on May 6, 2022, a mere two weeks after my initial visit. How such a colossal error transpired is beyond comprehension. The fact that I was hounded for over a year and a half by Stephanie, with her abysmal customer service skills, and made to endure countless hours of fruitless communication, only to discover that the office had been compensated all along, is nothing short of outrageous. And after 18 months of a saga, what was Dr. Rubin's response? A shrug, passing the blame, and a "sorry about that". Also to note - I have yet to be refunded in full for my visit. Until they do, Montgomery Village Eye Center has engaged in unlawful insurance fraud and double billing. My experience with Montgomery Village Eye Center was nothing short of a customer service nightmare. I hope that my review serves as a stern warning to potential patients who value their time, money, and sanity. It is high time for Montgomery Eye Center to rectify the glaring issues within its office and rid itself of problematic staff like Stephanie, who tarnish the reputation of an otherwise reputable medical practice.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. To preface this I will say Dr. Rubin is the man and has been for many years but his great efforts do not compensate for the disrespect and immature nature of some of the other employees. Ever since the merging of this company, and the introduction of Jawaun, it has been a negative experience. She is very immature and matches the social skills of an unborn child. She addresses customers like they are clueless, but she is the one who is clueless. Someone who is that blatantly rude for no reason must be very miserable in life. She is straight disrespectful and Rick would be very ashamed of her. I hate to leave such a bad star review because Dr. Rubin is a great doctor, but the experience at the front/side desks are just THAT bad.
