I had tried Wool & Knots for cleaning some small rugs, and things went well. Then, I decided to try something a little more complicated, preparing some small rugs to be hung on the wall. That did not go so well. The first time I picked up the rugs, it appeared that the rugs were mounted on sturdy wooden rods for hanging, and it looked good! Then, I realized that the wooden rod was attached to each rug with sticky backed velcro! "Stickum" was used to mount the rugs! I discovered that when one of the rugs fell off the wall. When I took it back, the proprietor admitted right away that adhesive was NOT the way to attach the rugs. He talked about how the rugs must have a sewn attachment. I imagined that the wooden rods would go through a fabric sleeve. The second time I picked up the rugs, I saw that they had simply nailed the rugs to the wooden rod, with three nails for each rug. That's what I paid $180 for? 9 nails? This is not disastrous, but it is NOT GOOD. I could have done that myself. I was expecting a sewn cloth sleeve for each rug.I will not be coming back.
This is not your typical rug store where "everything is on sale" or they are constantly "going out of business". It is a low key show full of fantastic hand woven carpets from all over the middle east and central asia. Superb collection, fair prices, and no sales pressure.
Wool and Knots is one of the most authentic and high quality Oriental Rug stores in Washington area and I can attest to that from personal experience. It has always been a pleasure when it comes to their exquisitely beautiful rugs and their friendly and cordial service. Recommend them very highly.
