Wonderful folks here! So welcoming and efficient. Paul (at the Connecticut Ave location) very skillfully repaired my husband’s glasses. We were on vacation and were so glad to have been recommended this place which was right around the corner from where we were staying at the Capital Hilton!!!

After lunch, I walked up Connecticut Ave. and into Voorthuis Opticians @ 1035 Connecticut Ave. NW and asked if I could buy a pair of contacts for my daughter while we waited for our order to arrive, since she only had two pairs for the safari and we were unable to return home due to the coronavirus. (We live in Shanghai) After looking around for her prescription, they could only find one lens that fit her prescription and I asked if they had one that was almost the same power for the second lens because my 7th grader really wanted contacts instead of glasses at her new school and explained our situation to the kind gentlemen at the shop. The opticians went back to their offices, came back out with contact solution, a case and two contacts of a different brand but same prescription. As I pulled my wallet out, the kind man grabbed my hand and told me to put my wallet away and gifted the contacts and accessories to me.
