Honestly, I give this place 5 stars because it's the only hospital I'm comfortable going to, taking my family to or referring anyone to in this area. Of all of the hospitals in this area, they are the most professional and deliver the best care. I've had two children hospitalized here, a grandchild and a niece born here. All were pleasant experiences. From the emergency room, to the ICU, a a regular hospitalization all has gone well. This will continue to be our hospital of choice, when necessary.

high costs, poor service, badly trained ER staff. At least the regular doctors there have brains, went in for gall bladder problems, most of the gastronomy staff (or those that handle such things) were from India and i know that Indian doctors actually have talent. They were all Indian, young, and in this day and age, some people with actual good doctor talent. Sadly the ER staff were not. After being admitted at a pretty decent time for abdominal swelling, went into the basic ER area for tests to be done. One assistant didn't hook up the IV correctly so later it was leaking. The new assistant that was on later redid the IV, but failed to realize they had the tubes in a knot, so none of my antibiotic medication was even getting into my system. Put in a room for 2 days for surgery prep, thankfully didn't have to have any, but nurses, staff and doctors who had no clue what had been done to me testing wise. I had my sonagram and MRI done the first day to determine gallstones had passed, kept another day until liver levels were back to normal, and on the 2nd day waiting for release had nurses and doctors coming in talking about they were going to set me up for my MRI that day. huh, i had that done yesterday.. you did? mmm i wasn't told. A expensive basic overpriced room for 2 days, staff that were totally confused. Again, at least the Indian gastronomy department were smart, alert and knowledgable. The rest of the regular staff were not.

I have been using this hospital since 1995, before the large campus was built and it was in the historic district. Before AAMC became Luminis, it was a great hospital. Unfortunately, becoming Luminus ruined it. If you notice, all the good reviews are prior to 2019 when this change happened. I recently spent 2 miserable days in the "observation" unit due to a serious rash most likely caused by a medication. I had knee replacement surgery and 2 days later had a red, itchy, burning rash covering most of my body. I looked like a boiled lobster. The good: 1) didn't wait more than 10 minutes in ER before I saw a doc and medication was started which gave me some relief m, 2) All docs and nurses were nice. The bad: I was told I was going to be hospitalized for "observation." I thought, "Not good, but at least they have nice patient rooms here." I was taken to a very small room thay I call the "prison cell." No bathroom, just a toilet in the corner behind a curtain and no mirrors in the room. During my 2 day stay, I was never washed or given a clean grown. I wanted to do my PT exercises, but they didn't want me to get out of bed. As I was on 6 medications, the docs had no idea which one caused this. I asked to see an allergist/immunologist and was told they didn't have any. I was told that ortho was going to come see me to make sure my knee replacement was ok, but never saw them. On the 2nd day the doc came in and said he wanted to keep me another night. I told him I had a PT appointment the next day and wanted to keep it, so my knee replacement wouldn't be in vain. He then said he would get me PT. I told him I wanted to go home and see my own PT. He finally agreed as long as I promised to come back if the rash worsened. After being released and speaking with someone in the medical field, this is what I found out. I was put in the "observation unit" because I am on Medicare and that is cheaper than a full admission. Now that I think about it, everyone on that unit was elderly. This is elder abuse!
