When I got tired of the chemicals, growing my hair out was a tough process. I couldn’t keep up with any routines as a busy surgeon and mom so it was mostly buns and not the cute kind. I started going to curlbar 4 years ago and Taylor gave me a routine I can manage. With 2 hours a week on wash day, I feel great about my curls all week and spend about 2 mins a morning on hair. It survives through workouts and work days in the OR. Also, I love visiting curlbar, it feels relaxing and fun and I love the celebration of beauty. Love curlbar!

Amanda took on a challenge for my hair in 2024 then I took time off for other reasons. May of 2025 I wanted to get my hair in better condition again. She was friendly and attentive to detail with the perfect salon experience. I got a blow out with a scalp service and immediately booked an appointment to get a hair cut and blow out right before the holiday season! The space at hair passion is very clean and welcoming. All the stylists were so friendly between one another as well! Their prices were very reasonable(especially in the greater Boston area) and honestly worth every penny! “Maricruz is the BEST of the best! During my trial she was able to quickly maneuver through the multiple styles I was choosing between. She had great expert advice for the best styles to hold up in the August heat and humidity (and thank god she did because it ended up being 90 degrees with 60-80% humidity while we took photos/had the ceremony all outside on our wedding day)! She recommended extensions but did not force the purchase on me or affiliate herself with any brand - she was truly just recommending what the best products were to work with! I was so happy with how my hair turned out and with how well it held up! When I finally got back to my hotel room at 3 am my hair still looked FANTASTIC - and I was hard on my hair with 4+ hours outside in the heat and humidity, hitting the driving range at cocktail hour, dancing the night away and closing out the downtown bars. In addition to being insanely talented with hairstyles, her personality and communication skills are amazing and I enjoyed her company getting ready on my wedding morning! Her and her assistant were both happy, upbeat and insanely talented. Multiple of my bridesmaids have texted me over the past months to repeatedly compliment their work - saying they've used pictures from my wedding for samples at other weddings (adding they thought it came out best and held up best at my wedding - even despite the heat and humidity)!! “Andrew has been an absolute superstar! I'm often looking to completely change my hairstyle and he's met those requests with excitement instead of apprehension. He's also done a great job with both hair transitions he's worked on with me! To be honest I can't afford his haircuts but I keep going to him because he's the only person in the city that I trust with non-standard hairstyles across the gender spectrum.

Edit: My last couple haircuts have been quite disappointing. I tried to convince myself the haircuts were okay. But the lines in my hair were uneven both times and I asked for layers both times and he cut my hair all to the same length both times. Since he didn't give me layers the first time, I asked him to cut my hair short if he needed to for layers the second time around. This time again he cut my hair all to one length, but this time shorter. I would trust him completely with masculine hairstyles but I don't think I'm ever going back for a hairstyle with any femme components. The last couple appointments also felt more rushed and like he didn't have the time or energy to spend on the haircut and just wanted it out of the way, so all in all, I'm probably on the lookout for a new hairstylist.. :(“

“I was looking for a reasonably priced Deva cut and Anthony really delivered. Since it was my first time, I booked the first time Deva cut with consultation. Anthony let me know how to improve my product application process and that has really been a game changer. Also let's talk about the cut - he shaped my hair better than anyone ever has! “I just had my 2nd appointment at Expressions with Lina, and needed to take the time to write a review because my hair and experience were just that good. I am a city girl that has come to the burbs (love/hate), but finding city quality without having to cross the bridge is my mission, and exressions nails it. SUMMARY:Product wise they are super high end (back bar and for sale) which is a must, but not necessarily hard to find. The second part, which Lina and her co-owner both nail, is continuing education without being in the city, and pairing that with a solid hair background and history so that the trends are achievable but the integrity of your hair is maintained! MY EXPERIENCE: I came to Lina with 12 week grown out roots (I'm a level 5 and have a level 10 color block in the front), and needed a new hairdresser after my regular had a long term injury. She took the project on, but most importantly treated every piece of hair on my head like it was in the front. I had a band from leaving my roots for so long, and during my 2nd appointment she and her co-owner lovingly corrected it, even though Lina had a flight to catch for a familly emergency, they worked together and made my hair absolutely perfect. They also provided honest feedback about a longterm plan for my hair while achieving exactly what I wanted in the meantime. I couldn't be more pleased and I am so happy to have one less errand to run in the city so I can spend time complaining about the suburbs!“
