My jaw literally dropped when I walked in the door to Parallel! Besides the magical aesthetic the vibe in the space was warm and welcoming. I was greeted by Nicole. She took her time talking with me and going over my skin care needs and explaining the facial experience. The facial room was so cozy and peaceful. Nicole is truly a gifted aesthetician! She took great care of my skin and I could feel her reiki practitioner energy coming through. I also really appreciated that she told me everything she was going to do before she did it so I always felt safe and at ease. I left there floating on a cloud and I will definitely be back! I highly recommend Parallel Skin Spa!
***WARNING*** This review contains an actual description of my personal, “personal” waxing. If that kind of transparency bothers you I will skip to the point of this review and then you can stop reading: Parallel Skin Spa is The Best Waxing Experience I have ever had. Ever. And I’ve been waxing for 30 Years. To avoid the less-than-hairy details you can stop reading now and just make your appointment at Parallel Skin Spa! I have been waxing my legs and other locations below my waistline, for the past 30 years. THIRTY YEARS. These days I wax all the parts of my legs I can reach myself. I don’t do yoga…and anyway, it’s a better use of your resources to just pay a trained professional to wax certain parts of your body. You’re just going to have to trust me on that. I live in The Upper Valley of Vermont (close to the New Hampshire border, so we regularly get services over the border also). I like to refer to it as a “waxing desert.” (If you live in The Upper Valley and you need a very good local person to wax you message me - I have ONE recommendation for you.) For one period of time I actually only got waxed in NYC. Then for a while I went down to Boston for waxing. Then Covid happened and I let things slide and when I decided to get back on that waxing horse I needed it to be more “convenient” than Manhattan or Boston. I am regularly in Northampton/Holyoke, MA so I did a little search online in the Northampton area and that is how I found Parallel Skin Spa. I get a French Bikini with full butt waxing (almost a Brazilian…but not quite, because that is not my jam). This can be an INSANELY uncomfortable/painful procedure to endure. It is common for people to get the wax way too hot. It is common for people to practically rip parts of your anatomy off because they don’t have enough experience doing what they’re doing and/or no one ever taught them correct technique. It is common for you to have bits of wax left all up in your personal spaces that then stick to your clothing and TORMENT you for the rest of the day. I was, frankly, AMAZED that none of these things happened on my first waxing visit to Parallel. It was like a REVELATION. No burning hot wax. No ripping so that I thought I might actually be bleeding. No leftover bits of wax. None of that. Just a fast, easy, thorough waxing. Yes, it still hurts. You’re ripping hair out by the roots. Don’t delude yourself. There is no such thing as “painless hair removal.” But getting waxed at Parallel Skin Spa is as close as you’re gonna get! Today was my second visit to Parallel for waxing and the experience was even better (maybe because it was two months instead of almost TWO YEARS since my last waxing…). Also, a VERY reasonable price for the services. HIGHLY recommend. It is over a two hour drive for me to get to Parallel. WELL WORTH my time and my money!
