“Carmelo is a great guy, does great work. Works super hard and is very responsive. One time he installed wiring for outdoor cameras that are still working great 4 years later. His pricing is fair and competitive. Another time he came to look at smoke alarm wiring and I realized it was due to water damage on one of the detectors. I just had to replace the faulty detector. I offered to pay for his time and he did not accept anything since he lives nearby. “I put in a call to Frank O'reilly and he returned my call later that day. I told him what I thought the problem was - faulty circuit breaker - and he asked me to text him some photos of the circuit breaker and the outlet it was for. He had me do a few other minor tasks as he tried to assess what the problem was. He said he would come out the next morning and he did. He was able to quickly assess what the real problem was - an old outlet box - and he was able to fix it in a short time. He was also a very friendly person and was enjoyable to talk with while he solved the problem. Long story short: My best experience with any electrician has been with Jim of JDO Electric.

On Saturday, July 5th of the holiday weekend, my home’s electrical system started to fail. Some outlets worked, others were completely out, and a few flickered on and off—creating a strange and somewhat frightening situation that needed immediate attention. I reached out to several electricians I’ve used in the past. Only Jim returned my call—within an hour of me leaving a voicemail.

After I explained the issue, he quickly put me at ease. He said there didn’t seem to be an imminent threat to the house and promised to come by within the hour.

Upon arrival, he diagnosed the problem and explained what was causing it. Jim was able to provide temporary relief by restoring most of the 110v service. It turned out that the electrical load in the house had become too much after we installed a central AC system and an EV charger in the garage.

Jim recommended upgrading to a 200-amp service. This involved not only replacing the entire electrical panel but also extensive rewiring—inside the house, at the meter, and the connection to the utility pole.

Throughout the process, Jim and his assistant Austin were excellent at keeping us informed about what they were doing and why. Their clear communication reassured us that everything was moving along smoothly. They worked diligently and professionally, kept the work areas clean, and were respectful of the fact that we were working from home. Even with the outdoor work requiring them to endure extreme heat, they pressed on and got the job done.

The entire upgrade took about a week and a half, and we couldn’t be more satisfied with both the process and the final result. I wholeheartedly recommend JDO Electric to anyone looking for a competent, experienced, professional, and reliable electrician.“
