I’m a life long combat athlete who is just starting to tip the scales on declining physical and mental health and after learning about blue zones and longevity I wanted to transition my hobbies and lifestyle towards healthier aging . I wasn’t sure what I wanted but I wanted something that could meet the majority of the attributes I believe help you age healthier. The idea of taking a traditional martial art appealed to me because although not the same it did have a continuity with my previous combat sport experience and I thought that would give me some confidence learning something completely new. I looked at a few schools and styles but loved the traditional aspect and uechi style that I saw when I visited authentic karate training center. After taking the introductory class and 2 week trial there was no question this was the best place for me to achieve my goals. Not only is sensie chip an amazing teacher but everyone in the dojo is fantastic and welcoming. It’s honestly been a pleasure to train here and I would recommend authentic karate training center to everyone and quite often do !
I can’t say enough about this studio. We weren’t sure if karate would be right for our kids but decide to give this a try anyway. We were worried our kids wouldn’t behave, follow along, focus etc. my daughter specifically struggles with focus and attention. Well let me tell you, I have never seen her more focused than when she’s in karate class. She has become so much more disciplined and her attention span has increased so much. In just about 10 months we’ve seen a huge change. My son also loves the junior class. Both kids get so excited each time they’re eligible for a new belt color. And not only is this program great for helping kids with attention, focus, discipline and following directions, but it’s so fun! They have a blast every week. The studio is so meticulously maintained and so incredibly well run. I am continuously more and more impressed each month we attend training classes. This studio is the best of the best. Sensei Chip, Andrew and all the junior teachers are so dedicated to their students and they truly love what they do and care about these kids. We are so happy we found Authentic Karate and we hope you’ll give it a try for yourself. You won’t be disappointed!
I originally began my Uechi journey at another dojo in 2009, but after three years of training, my life circumstances changed and I left Uechi for more than a decade. I wanted to return to Uechi training for several years, so I finally began looking more seriously in 2023 for a new Uechi dojo. I found out about AKTC and Sensei Chip via a Google search in March of 2023. After emailing back and forth a few times, I rushed down to the dojo with the intent of trying out a few classes. I was immediately hooked. I was impressed with the set up of the dojo, the students, and sensei Chip's talent. Everyone in the adult class is helpful and friendly. I quickly felt accepted by the group despite being a transfer from a Uechi dojo that was part of a completely different organization. I knew I had found *my* dojo. Sensei Chip gives personalized attention and feedback to all of his students in a clear way and everyone sees improvement. He makes learning both fun and interesting, and I always leave class in a great mood. I couldn't recommend AKTC enough to anyone looking for a dojo for either their kid(s) or themselves. Every other aspect of my life outside of the dojo has also improved since I started training at AKTC.
