Joan Peters is now a spry 90 yrs old. A sweetheart that eagerly showed her work and interjected with life experiences. She's going strong, which her clientele is taking full advantage of. Her style for painting uses a palate knife. Her mixes of color are vibrant, imaginative and distinctive. In addition to paintings, she does home design (wallpaper, tiles, even sinks), clothes, fabrics, pillows, gretting cards and many other items. You should check our her website - but you won't find pictures there. You'll need to visit her gallery for that. I'm not an art collector so i can't say its an investment. But if you like her style, you've already invisited in good taste. The couple pictures in my family have gone up in price ~ 5x but over 12 years., give or take. They hang on the wall, were they belong, not in a bank fault.
Joan is a lovely, talented artist. If you want something original and beautiful, she can create it for you. Her original fabrics and wall coverings are on display and I have always found her generous in providing a sample or swatch to take home. She also has beautiful artwork and will paint on porcelain and furniture. Stop in her shop, she is a joy to meet.
Joan Peters is an Osterville treasure. She has been in town for as long as I can remember and has always had a delightful and different shop. Her original fabrics, wallpapers and paintings are truly one of a kind....as is she! Check out her toile fabrics and wallpapers. Even the men and children will love them because they can pick out their beloved Fenway Park, the State House, renderings of the running of the Boston Marathon and even the Citgo sign on the Boston toile. My children have loved seeing the Cape Cod bridges, the Penny Candy store (1856 Country Store), the Ferry, the Melody Tent etc. How many things can you find and identify? More fun than "Where's Waldo?"...read full review
