Ken Meyer is experienced and has good knowledge of violins. He is also honest and unbiased in his business practices. He does nice work on instruments and as we know, he isn't a stickler for schedules. However, when you need a good luthier, he is really good to work with, and he listens to you! Plus he's on the T and there is parking on the street as well.

Ken is a genius with sound. He is a very unique individual who has the ability to analyze any stringed instrument and make it sound better. I recently brought him an old Italian/french composite violin which I purchased nearly 20 years ago. During that time, it has spent most of its playing life as a frustrating platform that required special technique and care to make each note speak and sound the way it should. Some notes would not sound in tune no matter where the left hand was placed. Within about 15 minutes of analysis, ken came up with at least eight different improvements to increase the playability, resonance and sound of the instrument. Each one was sequential and scientific, and none required drastic alterations to the instrument. The cost of the adjustments was a tiny fraction of what other violin shops might have charged and was far less invasive to the instrument than I ever expected. The violin is performing to the potential it should have always had. I can't believe I waited this long to find Ken. His work will undoubtedly save me countless hours of frustration and now allows me to practice and perform making music instead of solving problems. I always knew my instrument had the potential to really open up, but at least 7 or 8 very well respected luthiers were not able to do anything meaningful with it. As icing on the cake, ken adjusted the violin and playability so well that I am actually able to use dominant strings instead of the more expensive newer options like Vision or Eva Pirazzi and still play with a warm and clear sound. The amount of money this will save over the years of my professional playing career is almost impossible to overstate. I only hope he trains an apprentice to pass his art and knowledge on. I'm very grateful to Ken for giving me my sanity back!
