The staff is very informative and diligent, always ready to answer questions and assist members. The YMCA also provides a well-regarded after-school program for children, with staff members praised for their dedication and support. A standout instructor, PAT, leads excellent water fitness classes, which are described as fun, challenging, and effective. Her expertise and enthusiasm help make the workout experience enjoyable. Overall, the YMCA is a great place for families and individuals seeking a supportive community and quality programs. Members appreciate the convenience of being able to use other facilities and sign up for classes for themselves and their kids.
The aerobic water fitness classes on Mon, Tues and Fri consistently are full to the limit with a wait-list. The exec director should offer more classes at more times. Parkway in West Rox has water fitness daily but is not as full and the instructor is better at Menino. Participants in the class come from all parts of Boston even Quincy because the class quality is great.
In the beginning, it was a little challenging being African-American and going into the gym. I expect a racially competent environment however, now as I’ve been going here for almost a year, they have become much more friendly to me. The staff the people that come in and I think that’s very important. Life is already full of hardships. The last thing we need is people at the gym, making it even more harder. however, I like the front desk team that they have now and I feel it’s becoming more better shoutout to the pool manager !!
I have been a member at the YMCA in Hyde Park for about 2 years now and enjoy using the facility. I workout in the morning or at lunch for a quick hour and never feel like it’s overcrowded or I cant use a machine or weights. I love that i can get in an out. The facility is clean and i really like that they have a good offering of swimming classes for kids. I wish they had more toddler/kid programs like soccer or gymnastics. For kid classes i usually have to check out another location. The perk is once your a member you can use the other facilities and sign for classes for yourself and your kids.
