I found the all the people at OPT Greenfield very competent and professional, especially Linda Sharkey. She was able to help me with my tremendous back pain, while treating me with the respect of being an intelligent adult. Her knowledge, exercises given, & empathetic manner, allowed me to heal both physically and emotionally from this back trauma.
In Praise of Orthopedic Physical Therapy in Athol As we all know, sometimes you never appreciate something until you really need it. That was true for me and the physical therapy which I needed over the past month to prepare for last week’s surgery on two meniscus tears in my right knee. It is also true with regard to the PT I am beginning now to get my knee back in shape since my arthroscopic surgery at St. Vincent’s in Worcester. I have been extremely impressed with the PT I have received from Orthopedic Physical Therapy here in Athol, at the former home of the Athol Steak House at the Uptown Common. I have been working with Susan Piro, a fantastic physical therapist who came highly recommended and has an outstanding reputation (very highly deserved) in the North Quabbin area. For some appointments I see her, and for others I see Laura Shaw, an excellent physical therapist assistant. Both are extraordinary professional practitioners; they are very knowledgeable, highly skilled, very compassionate, and truly kind. The PT program is individualized for each client, as it was for me. I hear very positive comments, as well, about the other physical therapists there, Mike Candito and Jeff Anderson, who is also the Co-owner of the business (along with Liz Dolby from the Greenfield office). The office runs very smoothly with a professional and friendly atmosphere, thanks to the following members of the office staff: Valerie Hamlett, Pat Houghton, and Laura Chmura. They are always very helpful, cordial, and efficient in checking in and out, scheduling, and completing required paperwork. I was delighted that the physical therapy I had in November and December worked on strengthening my quads and progressed gradually. It really helped as I went into surgery feeling stronger and better than I had in some time. Now begins the work to rebuild my knee and continue strengthening my quads since they trimmed and shaved both the lateral and medial meniscus and removed loose pieces of cartilage. I have great confidence as I continue to work with Sue and Laura. Choosing medical professionals is a really important decision, and I would never want to interfere in any way in what is, of necessity, a very personal choice, but I do want to applaud Orthopedic Physical Therapy right here in Athol for the superb work they have done with me and so many others in our area!
I went to the Athol location for a while and the physical therapists assistant Laura was very kind and helpful. I got some much needed relief!
