The reviews on Yelp got me curious: the best haircut ever? You know what? Best ever is an understatement. Sal is an intuitive genius when it comes to making you look good, and he loves what he does. But he's more than that. He wasn't busy when I stopped in, so we talked: food allergies, where to get the best local oysters (I'm not divulging that), how to grill eggplant, hurricane Ida, previous hurricanes, how long summer will last... Even though it is located on somewhat touristy Main St. in Gloucester, Sal's is the real deal. Looks just like the barber shop I used to go to as a kid, oh those many years ago. You don't find this ambience everywhere. Sal is the real deal as well. Quiet and gentle, he makes you feel like you have plenty of time and his full attention, even when other customers are waiting. He is not fussy, but very precise. His cutting is confident and quick. You can tell he has seen it all and knows what to do.
