“Brought my 2.5 year old in for a haircut. He doesn’t like them and it’s an overall challenging experience. Elias and Leticia were amazing. They were so nice and kind to my son, helping him through a tough time. His haircut looks great and after he was done he even wanted to stay and hang out a bit. Cannot recommend enough, and I’m sure their adult haircuts are great as well.“

“My husband was looking for a new barber shop. We happened to drive by 1st Yard Barbers outside Watertown square, so I suggested he try it! He called and was able to get an appointment at the time he wanted. Even *he* had begun to be able to tell a good haircut from a bad haircut. As soon as he walked in the door after his appointment, I could see it was a *good haircut*. It was short and neat and evenly cut, nicely trimmed around his neckline, and with wavy layers on top. Not only does it look great now, I’m sure it will continue to look great as it grows in. I’m so glad he found a new spot!“

He's also done a great job with both hair transitions he's worked on with me! To be honest I can't afford his haircuts but I keep going to him because he's the only person in the city that I trust with non-standard hairstyles across the gender spectrum.<br><br>Edit: My last couple haircuts have been quite disappointing. I tried to convince myself the haircuts were okay. But the lines in my hair were uneven both times and I asked for layers both times and he cut my hair all to the same length both times. Since he didn't give me layers the first time, I asked him to cut my hair short if he needed to for layers the second time around. This time again he cut my hair all to one length, but this time shorter. I would trust him completely with masculine hairstyles but I don't think I'm ever going back for a hairstyle with any femme components. The last couple appointments also felt more rushed and like he didn't have the time or energy to spend on the haircut and just wanted it out of the way, so all in all, I'm probably on the lookout for a new hairstylist.. :(“

“I see some comments that find reflect the way this shop is ran and Tony having worked there to owning it for 20+ years has been nothing but good service , respectful, sometimes as any shop mostly dominated by men the debates get animated at times . But more so I left always with and smile on my face as well as knowledge. What the man does for the community is amazing . I watched him take an unfortunate honor student on a shopping spree and pay for him to play football. As for the people with the bad comments I must stay it doesn't come from a good place because the 18yrs I've been going there never been any issues“

John is an excellent barber who clearly had a lot of experience and quickly adapted to how I wanted and needed my haircut.
