“in feb 2022 i injured my ankle playing basketball. the prognosis of returning to any sport or running or jumping again was slim to none. also, i was not ever going to be able to go barefoot ever again or wear footwear without inserts at all. all this info was quite a blow. i wasnt allowed to do pt until oct 2022. went to see Choice PT and i am so glad it did. you walk in and are greeted by a friendly staff almost like "cheers". from day one working with Grant, he listened and thought of the best way to bring me back to the "old normal" not the new one. i thought it was weird that he was having me work on my glutes in the first few sessions but his goal was not to just treat the local injury but the root cause of it thereby not having it happen again. at each meeting we discussed the time in between so that he could tailor our time together in the best way possible. he listened so intently giving me what i needed that day. with me he was also having to play pyschologist and dealing with the ups and downs of this recovery. from oct to dec Grant allowed me to see tremendous progress as i slowly began the process of working out again. in dec the progress haulted and even went backwards. he consulted other PT colleagues and did more research. by feb we were back on track. in one of our sessions, he realized that i was in less pain in barefeet and without the inserts. so having ditched those my progress skyrocketed again. i had not yet played sports but my workouts were becoming more intense and i was biking again. in march of 2023, with my ankle in a brace and not using any inserts i stepped on the volleyball court for the first sport in a year. it was so great to play again. by mid april 2023 i was playing basketball. it was slow going at first and i was not myself but it was just nice being out there again. since then i have played tennis along with the bball once per week and i am improving every day. Grant has given me knowledge and confidence to manage my recovery. my last appointment was tuesday august 22. for 11 months i saw Grant 1-2X/ week. i will miss seeing him as he was such a wealth of info and a great source of encouragement. however, i know that he is only a phone call away.“
