My wife and I (both TIAA clients) were treated very well by the receptionist (whose name we did not get) and the advisor (James) at the Cambridge TIAA office. We needed help with some paperwork and did not have an appointment. The receptionist helped us first by looking into possible appointments and then by checking with James that he had time to help us with a few questions. James was gracious to see us without an appointment. He was very professional and helpful, checking our paperwork and advising us on what additional steps were needed, including providing us with a Harvard phone number to get necessary information. Heather martin has a way of making her clients feel at ease. Once they open the office for their clients it will be even better. I can not wait. For me 1 in 1 in person is the best.

Though it's been nine years since I was laid off and spoke to a counselor at the Mount Auburn Street office, at that time my experience with that office was excellent, very professional and compassionate, not just the counselor I spoke to, but also the person who answered the phone when I called to make an appointment and the staff I saw at the office. The counselor even told me I didn't have enough money to retire and offered me a job. When I called prior the main phone number of TIAA-CREF for information, I would speak to staff and counselors from all over the country. Some were very helpful, but others were not. That was both before I was laid off and afterwards.
