I was in the Boston area on a business trip in June and went to Carman's for a shampoo and roller set. Carman squeezed me in on short notice. She did a great job on my hair. I received lots of compliments. I'll definitely go back to Carman's the next time I'm the Boston area. Give Carman's a try. You wont be disappointed.

Called ahead and then walked in and they were able to squeeze me in with a color and blow dry. Very nice staff, small place, no frills, reasonable pricing too. Late edit: Noticed they tipped themselves 42% on the credit card statement when it arrived. Not sure why they did that.

Go on a day other than the weekend - those get really busy. It's a tiny shop with two or three stylists. They're great at basic shampoo/set/blow dry. I wouldn't trust them with chemicals or cutting though. On a week day you can be in and out - with bouncy curls - in 90 minutes and very little wait time.
