From Common Ground Health Clinic
The Common Ground Health Clinic started on September 9, 2005 just days after hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast. Due to the humanitarian disaster and apparent lack of governmental response, two community activists, Sharon Johnson and Malik Rahim put out a call for healthcare workers to help meet the overwhelming need. The clinic started as a first aid station with the arrival of “Street Medics”, which are first responders that gained notoriety through mass mobilizations of the anti-globalization movement. The clinic was originally set up in a mosque, with space being generously donated by the Masjid Bilal. Since its inception, the clinic has served more than 60,000 patient visits - all at no charge to the patient.
My family loves this place, my husband, mother and also my goes here. They’re helpful, quick, and if you have any help problems they can help heal you and give you the right medication for your problems. They also help me mother get a free here and aids and help her with lowering her sugar and keeping it down. Thank Common Ground for keeping us healthy.
I love the clinic. Dr Hope is caring, understanding, and Knowledgeable. The Staff knows my name when I walk through the door. You don't feel rushed when you are talking to the doctor or dealing with the staff. You don't have to wait long to be seen. I've been going to Common Ground for more than 12 years now and not looking for anything else. P.S. they need a new picture on Yelp. The picture is from the old location.
There are some lovely folks working here. I live in LA but come to Nola often to visit family & friends. I started getting a sore throat right at the beginning of my stay & my friend who lives on the Point rec'd Common Ground. They took care of me right away & the Doc was super kind & friendly. Nice to know this place exists!
