I just wanted to take a moment to recognize the staff at Riverlands Animal Hospital. My husband and I had not found a new veterinarianin our area, as our two cats are indoor and typically don't have any out-of-the-ordinary issues other than health maintenance. Our Luna had started to look frail and she wasn't eating well. We did everything we could at home (the most logical to me) prior to taking her in. After blood work and physical, we found out that she had kidney disease
If I could give this facility 10 stars, I would. This is not my regular vet because I live some distance away, but I brought one of my cats here with the intention of starting chemotherapy for her bladder cancer. Unfortunately, she was found to have serious kidney issues also, and it was decided that she should be kept in the hospital for a few days in hopes of improving her condition enough to start chemo. I was encouraged to visit Venus whenever I wished, and I came every day. My cat was given everything she needed during these visits: food, water, litter pan, and anything else she required. I usually stayed for an hour and a half to two hours, and someone always checked on Venus and me periodically to see if we needed anything. Despite the good care she received, Venus' condition continued to deteriorate. Her tumor began to bleed, and she required two transfusions to stabilize her, but her improvement was only temporary. Almost a week after we arrived at the hospital, the tumor was bleeding so badly that it was obvious that Venus would not survive much longer. I made the difficult decision to put her down at that time. Throughout all this, all the vets I dealt with and all the support staff were as kind and caring as they could be. They kept me informed of any changes and made Venus' last days as comfortable as possible. I only wish I could have gotten her there sooner, but her condition was diagnosed too late for anyone to save her. A couple weeks after Venus passed, I received a beautiful card signed by many of the staff that cared for her. I've received cards from vets before after losing a pet, but never one so heartfelt as this one. I was truly touched. Thank you, Riverlands, for everything you did for Venus and me.
Dr. Ellender is an angel! I suddenly had to put my dog down for medical reasons, with my husband being out of town & it being 10pm, I wasn't able to get in touch with anyone to meet me for this. She helped me through the entire process & was so supportive! I could not have asked for a better vet that night! Thank you for taking care of my sweet baby & putting her pain to an end
