Hard Working Dentist, Affordable as advertised.
At first I was very unhappy with the Affordable Dentures in Houma. I waited 3 hours for my appt and it was a cluster. I made the appt in my current name, which was my mistake. But the paperwork I filled out in my legal name which really caused confusion and no one bothered to ask or confirm. I have worked in a medical office for over 20 yrs and I would have automatically confirmed after seeing 2 names. When I saw the dentist for all of 5 minutes, he was very nice but very confused. No one apologized for my waiting 3 hours except for the cute and sweet blond girl who called us to the back initially. Then there was the confusion with my prescriptions. The dentist wanted me on an antibiotic for a certain period of time before he performed the extraction. They were supposed to call into my pharmacy which was on my paperwork and he verbally confirmed with me which one before I left. The RX’s were not called into. So I called Friday and the dr already left and had called into the wrong pharmacy. By Monday I was a bit angry. Especially when I called and explained the matter and the receptionist told me it would be after 5 because that’s how they do it. At this point, the receptionist should have gone above and beyond, but in this day and age, no one does anymore. Thankfully my pharmacy calls me a few hours later and said unfortunately it was under the wrong name!! I asked several times to make sure it was corrected in their charts! Needless to say that made me mad. I also asked if the dentist would prescribe me something for the pain (abscessed tooth) since I cannot take NSAID’s due to gastric bypass and Tylenol wasn’t working - the message I received was to ask my Pharmacist what I can take!!! What???? The pharmacist can’t prescribe anything. At this point I felt like my care was unimportant since I was just getting one extraction and not making them money like a full set of implants, or dentures. I had thought about going elsewhere but didn’t. When my appt came around they were on time, what they prescribed for my nerves worked, the dentist was good and has a good personality. They could work on their communication first and foremost and the receptionists need to learn how to treat each patient accordingly and sometimes go above and beyond for their clients. All in all I would rate my experience a 5 out of 10 and that is being kind. I understand being short handed. But waiting 3 hours for an appt, the confusion over something as simple as a last name, the RXs being called into the wrong pharmacy and none of being fixed for days in unacceptable.
