I have been going to this vet for a couple years now. I genuinely love the people that work here and have had the best experience! I won't deny, there was a time when I first started going that I got hassled for an overweight cat (but realistically, after taking a step back, I understand this is coming from a place of care & I wouldn't want my cat to have irreversible health issues because I wasn't well informed). BUT, I always feel listened to and feel like these people truly care about my pets as much as I do. They can be kind of expensive (most vets are tho) but I feel like it's worth the price because they go the extra mile. For example, I took one of my fur babies the other day for suspicious behavior and they've called me two days in a row to check on her. Love this place and their staff! My wife and I can't say enough praises about this place and it's staff! I am not one to ever leave a review, but felt compelled to after the quality of service we continue to receive from this place over the last few years. As an example of how comfortable they make their clients feel about the care and financial responsibility that comes with visiting, I'd like to share our experience today. I called just before they opened, to try and get our 4 year old Boston who seemed to have some scary GI related symptoms seen asap. They were able to get us in right away! We saw Dr. Schmidtchen (our first encounter) who quickly identified all symptoms and established a game plan for treatment. I had the idea before coming that they would do some blood work to maybe get a more accurate diagnosis of what could be the issue with our pup. Instead of dragging the pup through yet another round of miserable testing, Dr. Schmidtchen mentioned that the prescribed treatment already established would rid our guy of whatever his issue may be including pancreatitis. Which is what was assumed to be the main culprit. I'm not sure of any other medical clinic anywhere that wouldn't upsell a service just for profit! That spoke volumes to me about how genuine and professional Shelbyville Road Vet Clinic really are. Diagnosis and treatment were exceptionally clarified and we couldn't be any happier with our time at this facility. I wrote this review so that hopefully they will see just what an impact they are making in our community and for anyone who may be nervous about bringing their loved one in for assistance!
Brought my cat in for a check-up. He had been a little lethargic. During COVID-days, you had to arrive and wait in the parking lot; the vet assistant retrieved my pet. I was contacted via phone by the vet. She took a thorough history. I was again contacted by the vet, post-exam, to discuss the results and the recommendations for care. I was very pleased with the staff, doctor, and experience. Glad my cat had such a thorough exam. The doctors explanations and recommendations were conveyed in a manner that was easy-to-understand and act upon. Keep up the good work, guys. Thank you.
