Norton Children's After-Hours Pediatricians

“This is our go to place when we have a sick kiddo. We came here on New Years Day at around 2 pm. Our two year old was being treated for at UTI. While the wait was about 4 hours and the waiting room was packed, the staff worked to make our daughter as comfortable as possible. The lady in triage, I think her name was Keisha, was so kind to our daughter. We were feeding our daughter lots of pedialyte to get her to go and test her urine. Unfortunately, she peed through her diaper and clothes twice. We didn't have two pairs of spare pants in the diaper bag, the lady in triage got us a size 7 diaper they had on hand and some mesh xray shorts so our daughter didn't have to sit in soiled pants or none at all on a cold evening. The larger diaper helped keep her dry while we were giving her lots of fluids. The female nurse practitioner was so pleasant and patient as she answered our questions about our daughter's care. While I know they were super busy, I didn't feel like she was rushing us or anything.I expected a bit of a wait due to the holiday, but I didn't expect how amazing and compassionate the staff were there. As the wait time increased, even the front end receptionist were trying to be transparent with patients about the wait time when they came in to be considerate of their time. I know they all had to be exhausted, but they were still showing up and giving the best care possible. Thank you Norton staff!“

“While no one wants to ever have to take their kids to the hospital, it's a relief to have Norton Children's Hospital available for when we do. My son had to undergo a heart procedure yesterday, and I can't speak highly enough of the care we received. From intake to discharge, the attention of the staff was just top notch. We had to get there at 6 a.m., and when we did, all of our paperwork and bracelets were ready to go. The waiting room even had Bluey on, which happily distracted my son for a bit. When we were called back, the nurses were quick to bring out warm blankets for my son, while we waited, with him in his hospital gown. The doctors talked to both of us, and his anesthesiologist made a game of steering my son's hospital bed, with my son in charge of "honking" for other doctors and nurses to get out of the way. He was also able to take his favorite stuffy back into the prep room with him, so he had it when he went under and when he awoke. During the procedure, the nurse called me when she promised she would, when it started and at every 45 minutes on the dot to tell me how it was going. And the room I waited in was small, private, clean, with a freshly brewed pot of coffee. Thankfully, the procedure went well, and Dr. Kim, our cardiologist, took the time to sit down with me, show me the scans and talk through next steps. I was then directed where to go to meet up with my son in recovery. And those nurses! Nurse Nicole (sorry I didn't get her last name) became my son's buddy, even finding slushies for him that were on a different floor. I also saw how two nurses comforted a toddler who was crying, just like the little one was one of their own. We were discharged right when they said we would be, and my son was also given another stuffy (his new favorite!) when we left. The staff at Norton Children's made a difficult day one that passed by fast. I had confidence that my son was in great hands, which is what all parents pray for.“
