Beware of EJQ Landscape and Flat Concrete, LLC (Kansas City and surrounding areas). EJQ company president Edyson Jimenez scammed me out of thousands of dollars on a concrete tear out and replacement of my driveway and a walkway late in 2023. The contract required that I pay about half the money up front to start the project and the remainder when the concrete arrived which included a thousand dollars for post cleanup. I paid the initial amount for him to get started, but since I was planning on being out of town the day, he told me he was going to pour, I decided to pay him the remainder of the contract. Once I paid the full amount, he abandoned the project and then ignored multiple, multiple phone calls and text messages asking him to complete the work. EJQ had managed to tear out the concrete for the drive and walkway before he abandoned the project, but they struggled with mechanical breakdowns, and their small, underpowered front end loading equipment took much longer than expected compared to using typical construction equipment. Their tiny front-end loader couldn't handle my clay soil. The prep work they managed to do was unacceptable. Edyson told me at one point the base for the driveway was ready, but it was nowhere near being ready. The base was much too high in large areas of the drive so the concrete would have been too thin if he had poured it. I was widening the driveway, and I personally had to get saws and pickaxes and shovels to remove roots and dig the base down to the proper level near the concrete forms. When he did show up for work, he would show up for a half an hour then disappear. He left the project site a muddy mess. Because winter was approaching, I needed the work completed, and I ended up having to hire another contractor to complete the work. The other licensed contractor came in with proper equipment and finished the job in two days. The address for EJQ's business listed on his website isn't associated with EJQ or Edyson's personal address. He didn't pull a permit for the city right of way near the street or call 811 to locate utilities. I called the city to check if he pulled a permit, and the city mentioned he hadn't and that he had been turned down before because he didn't have proper insurance. I don't believe his LLC actually exists. Edyson is insufferable, unethical and doesn't care. If he is far enough money ahead, he will abandon the project and leave you without means to recoup your money.

Buyer BewareHired EJQ to complete a small backyard stamped and colored concrete patio. Had several issues:1. Quoted couple day project took more than a couple of weeks to complete.2. The concrete stamps that were laid down weren't aligned. Instead of correcting the issue while the concrete was wet, appeared a worker took their finger and tried to "align" the two joints. Picture attached.3. Concrete splattered on our adjacent wood screened in porch. Workers didn't clean it off while wet and it dried on the stained wood.4.
