I had been an animal advocate/rescuer all of my life and I have dealt with many veterinary clinics, but I had been so impressed with this clinic, I had decided to leave a portion of my estate to them! However, I recently, we had an incident that left me heartbroken. attempting to help my granddaughter II took over her dog's insurance pl payments. But, in January of 2024, my granddaughter, with her infant daughter, moved out of state so we decided to drop the insurance plan completely and pay when services were rendered. We had ALWAYS paid our vet bills at the time of the service, and never made an appointment if we didn't have money to pay! So, when my 5 lb, senior dog ran out of her pain medicine and her shot for infection was long over due, I decided to put off paying my electric bill, just so I could get her treated ASAP. After I scheduled her appointment, I was told I owed 2 months, February and March, for an insurance plan, which HAD to be paid first. I told Western the insurance plan was suppose to be canceled in January, but Western demanded payment be made, in full, and to be included along with the payment for my senior dog's treatments. I explained she can't go much longer without being able to eat, and I could not believe ANY person with a heart, would allow a tiny senior dog to suffer a painful death, because another dog's insurance plan hadn't been canceled or paid...the dog hadn't even been using the insurance plan for months prior! It is Memorial Day Weekend and I was unable to get my sweet little senior in at another Vet Clinic...so I am watching her suffer, hoping she can make it until after the holiday weekend! It didn't have to happen like this, Insurance is a separate matter, it's not mandatory, don't pay, lose your insurance plan and go back to paying when service is rendered. There was no reason why my poor little senior dog was made to pay the price, she wasn't even on an insurance plan!! I feel betrayed and heartbroken.
This place has taken on too many clients that they cannot service. Their current clients in a timely fashion website says you can get emergency appointment during normal hours and is not true. This is happened on many occasions I've been in a patient there with three dogs for 10+ years and it has gotten so horrible to get a appointment scheduled. beware you can never get an appointment always booking 2 to 3 weeks out. Terrible. Terrible terrible
Dr. Chris Payton and Pam Mahlie are the best! They came to my home to euthanize my dog, which was so kind - something other vets in the area appear not to be willing to do. They have gone out of their way to help with other pets in so many ways - once Pam delivered medication to my house along with a doggie diaper for my dog who was near his end and could not walk very well so that I wouldn't have to come in to get it. Those two are angels.
