Ice started forming on the pipe between my compressor and the HVAC unit. Called the number for the HVAC service company on a sticker on the unit that was there since I bought the house. Guy came out, showed me that the filter needed replacing; ice forming on the coils. He did a whole sound-and-light show with a gadget meant to convince me that freon was escaping from the compressor, ending with telling me the unit was "builder-grade," and that I'd been lucky it worked this long, and that I needed a new one for $13,000 - $20,000+. Called Beaver Air, on recommendation of my wonderful handyman, John Jacobi. Yes, coolant was low. Put more coolant in system. $155.00 repair. Do yourself a big favor and call Beaver Air for HVAC service.
