A lot of the reviews for Theoris are dated a few years ago. I can't recommend Theoris these days, as to me, it seems they are more focused on the money rather than truly supporting small businesses. They followed in their eyes everything by the book, but it was lacking the spirit of good business, imo. Some background; we are a small company which decided to engage Theoris as our first ever recruiting firm. With an investment of over 30k, it was a sizeable chunk to invest so we wanted to feel like we were in good hands. Sadly, it seems like we were mistaken. We contracted Theoris to find a candidate for us and when issues arose with how we expected things to be (e.g. the candidate they found turned up with a battery red flag charge on their record) they were very dismissive (e.g. it's not our job to run background checks, you need to pay us (which theoretically true, didn't take into consideration any regard for a brand new customer) and when we asked for a small reduction or consideration in the finder's fee because of it, we got denied. You know what, that's still okay, because up until that point we still felt pretty good about Theoris. Since it was a very key hire for us (super senior level engineer allegedly) and we already invested a lot of time in the process, we went ahead with some trepidation. Remember, this was our first time using a recruiting firm, so we were optimistic it would work out. Fast forward a few months, just a little over our 90 day period, and we now needed to terminate this engineer for performance not up to a level of a senior. This engineer was also hired right before the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays so one would expect onboarding and red flag sussing to take some time as well. Great. Now we are out of 30k, out of all the time we invested into this candidate, and it was clear the candidate Theoris found us wasn't as advertised. When I reached out to Theoris for a small refund (7,000) on the finder's fee given the experience we had with them, as well as the current economic climate, their AP department decided to pinch pennies rather than work on making things right from a customer level. They offered us a minor discount on future placements, without real consideration of what we as a small company really need at the moment. (Imagine going to a hotel with roaches, and instead of getting a refund the manager gives you a free voucher to stay again; that's what happened here. If we were to follow the analogy out, show me you first hired exterminators and comp my stay, then we can talk about staying again!) At the end of the day, we are left with 30k hole, wasted resources, time, and no recourse from Theoris, who again in their eyes followed things by the book, but didn't do much in a business sense to retain a potential long term customer. I'm disappointed in how things worked out with them and I would not recommend them to anyone.
