My family and I have been patients at Community Eye Care of Indiana for over 10 years. I was surprised to learn that the office changed locations and is no longer operating out of the Clearvista location. I noticed the website changed but there was no mention of the office change until I called to schedule an appointment. I was then notified about the new location off Township Line Road. The name is now Clearview Eye Care. I scheduled the appointment and was shocked when I entered the building. The staff was not friendly, I asked who are the doctors and I was told there were two doctors there today, the OA asked for my ID and insurance and told me to complete the paperwork. I had a question about a fee, then a second OA proceeded to be very rude and abrasive when responding. Ultimately, I refused to sign a document stating that I agreed to pay an extra fee for a refraction test if my insurance did not pay. I was told if I did not sign the form then they would not provide a script or opticals. I have excellent insurance, and the OA told me the form was an acknowledgement that I read the policy, but she would not recognize that the form also stated I would be changed if my insurance did not pay. I asked to speak with the manager, who declined to see me. The refraction policy should be optional and it is not mandated by insurance( some insurance companies will not pay for this test). Considering they refused to provide a script or opticals, if I did not sign the form, I told them to cancel my appointment. In addition, the forms were not accessible online for review prior to my appointment. I will not return to this practice.
Avoid this practice at all cost, from someone who rarely writes a review of anyone or anything. The other one-star reviews are 100% accurate and reflect my experience since Dr. K left the practice a year ago, when it was already starting to go downhill. Long waits, poor communication, poor quality of service, disorganization, and still using FAX machine to receive/send rx. My family and I were patients for 14 years, ever since my daughter's eyesight was saved due to successfully treating a corneal ulcer by an MD, who is no longer there. I rec'd a new eye rx from a new young OD in early Nov, 2023, who I learned today is no longer with this practice - good thing. I ordered 3 pairs of new glasses with my new rx in Nov, '23, and all 3 pairs were worthless due to incorrect rx. After multiple attempts to schedule a new appt and/or get a new rx based on Dr. K's prior rx, I drove to the new office location on Township Line Rd today to pick up the correct rx in person, and ask for reimbursement of the glasses I ordered. It took 6 1/2 months of countless phone calls, voicemails, emails, incorrect prescriptions, and not giving up to get a simple corrected eye rx. My request for reimbursement for the 3 pairs of useless glasses was denied and they provided no offer to make it right, despite my lengthy paper trail. If you like your calls to be returned and want accurate rx, don't go to Crest View Eye Care - I'm finding out from others that there are several other quality eye care practioners on the Northeast side of Indianapolis who provide great service, care about their patients, and will do the right thing.
This was bar none the worst experience I have ever had in my life with getting glasses, the whole process was a nightmare. I had my eyes examined, I picked out frames and then, I was told I would be called back the following day to decide more details. I was never called back- ever, this was mid- December. I paid 160.00 on January 8th, the glasses I received did not have my prescription in them at all. I was told to wear them for to 2 weeks to find the sweet spot, I brought them back and they told me they weren't even prescription glasses they were magnifying glasses. They said I was not allowed to get a refund under no circumstances, they had to remake them. So, the person said they would be ready in approximately 2 weeks. I have never seen any other glasses, today is March 7,24. I went to Community North where I was told to go, and the office was gone. I called the new location and they said they didn't know anything about glasses being remade. They said they would tell the manager someone named Pat Morris, who has never called me, I am not even sure if she was even told, or if that is even her name. All I know is I have no glasses and no refund. Right now I have been on hold for over 15 minutes listening to weird musak. I have been going to this place for over 20 years and Teresa and Dr. Kautzman were always professional and very capable, now it is the WORST!
