“I just sent my mother here for a well-deserved spa day. Since I live across the country, I searched every review of every local spa and decided on this location. The person who helped me over the phone helped me schedule my mom a full day at the spa. Their spa packages and specials are priced so well! Her agenda: facial, massage, a lunch from a local restaurant, manicure, pedicure, haircut and style. The very second she left, she called me and let me know that she wanted to do this EVERY year around mothers day. I could practically here her glowing over the phone. “I'd been looking for a place literally for years who can actually cut a man's hair to wear with a "messy" look. The only place that came close was a "swanky" (think Italian name that starts with a "T") salon in Crystal Lake for $70 plus tip for a men's cut, and then another $200 for a (one color) color. Ninety bucks a month for an OK men's cut, plus $300 for a cut and color every third month??? I'm afraid I'm not quite THAT vain! Went there for two months (one cut and then a cut and color) while I searched for another place in the meantime because of the sticker shock. While the two gals who did my hair (granted, the color job WAS exceptionally well done), were both very pleasant, this particular salon has different people who cut your hair and then a different one to color your hair (I'd never heard of that before). Thus it is hard to schedule both services together without having to sit around and do nothing for an hour waiting for the colorist to start your hair after the stylist finishes cutting it. Based on the online reviews, I decided to try out WG Salon, a small salon in the little strip mall right by Lou Malnati's that you'd miss if you blinked - my advice: don't blink! Boy, am I glad I found this little gem and gave it a shot! From the front desk staff who is fun, friendly, and accommodating, to the stylist (Wilkin, in my case), it was an all-around welcomed excellent experience...for about a THIRD of the price of the swanky salon mentioned above. It is clear that Wilkin is very experienced and knowledgeable as a men's hair stylist. Not only did he do an excellent job on my hair, he actually took his time, explaining what he was doing, explaining the technique to style my hair at home to get the look he created for me, and he also...wait for it...LISTENED to me! Just a nice and cool guy, too. I don't think I've ever said this before, but I'm actually already looking FORWARD to going back for my next haircut and my hair color the month after next, right before a long trip. I'm sure Wilkin will do an outstanding job with the color and leave me looking great to run with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain in July! Just one more reason to make it back in one piece: so Wilkin can do my hair in August! :) Highly recommend WG Salon.“

“Booking process is easy although it tends to be more tedious than other salons with forms to fill/sign and texting pics of your hair. Also the last minute cancellation policy is expensive at 100% of the service price (charged to your CC on file) should you not cancel appropriately. In contrast, I was called 40 min. Before my appt. and informed my stylist left and I could go 40 min. later with a less experienced stylist or not go at all. On a Saturday. They put me in a tight spot after many many appointment confirmations so I went with the flow. Upon arrival I was pleasantly surprised at the speedy check in and attentive service. Well, it was a blessing in disguise since my replacement stylist turned out to be the best I've ever had! She was truly wonderful and blended my color perfectly! I also can't say enough good things about the stylist who did the finishing blow dry and style. Absolute queens. Checkout was a breeze and I booked another appointment. I highly recommend this salon. “I've been seeing this salon for a while now, tbh I thought they were more catered towards womens haircut and styles, for events and stuff. I had Karl did a skin fade, and it's pretty good. He's gonna talk to you and try to understand what you want. And as the usual move to new barber, the longer you go there, the more familiar they get to your hair/head/style. I will definitely be back and highly recommend you should try them. Salon is pretty nice as well, clean, and I like Karl work station. It feels more reserved. ?“
