My son and I have been members for the last couple years, and it has been wonderful! I can't say enough good things about HMD. I also want to give a huge Thank You to Grand Master Hyong and HMD for supporting our local dancers by donating a $450 HMD gift card for our ACPO Cash Bash silent auction. Congrats to the winner - Jacqui Jacobs. I am sure you will enjoy HMD!!

The skills taught help students attain strength of mind, body and spirit. As an older adult returning to Tae Kwon Do after 20 years, I assumed I could not participate. My strength & cardiovascular health as well as my balance I assumed to be too far gone to allow my enjoyment of Tae Kwon do. But to my delight I have discovered I am able to participate! I need to take more time and caution when relearning the skills, but am really excited that I able to return to the art of Tae Kwon do!! As for the much younger student, I am impressed with Master Hyong's dedication to helping each child become the best they can be. This is accomplished by not only showing them what they are capable of in the physical practice of non competitional Tae Kwon do, but also in strengthening them emotionally, psychologically and socially. Students are challenged to write an essay at each belt test to show what their understanding is of the goals being taught each day before class. These are brief, yet to the point lessons dealing with the positive role of a martial artist in our society. HMD offers both physical and mental fitness to all students who choose to commit to the challenge!

I became student of the HMD academy while attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Grand Master Hyong and the instructors do a great job of ensuring everyone has a positive experience and develops the skills needed to be responsible, caring, and contributing members of society. The program emphasizes cooperative learning and self-improvement through mastery of Tae Kwon Do techniques, building and strengthening self-confidence and preparing the students to be citizens that share their strengths with others. I couldn’t imagine training anywhere else.
